Dan Frost’s London to Brighton Charity Ride

Dan Frost from PFS Group took on an epic 55-mile cycle ride from London to Brighton on 13 September in support of the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).

Following the challenge, we caught up with Dan to find out more about his preparation, experience on the day and what inspired him to raise money for the charity.

For Dan, taking on a cycling challenge was a natural choice. As a regular cyclist, he already had a solid foundation and built on that by increasing his mileage through a series of long-distance rides in the lead-up to the event.

“Training went really well,” he said. “I had a bit of a head start as I cycle regularly anyway so just ramped the mileage up a little.”

Before the ride, when asked about the biggest challenge he expected to face on the day, Dan joked that it would be “getting home from Brighton.”

“Thankfully, my wife agreed to come and pick me up after,” he continued.

More seriously, however, he had been warned about one particular obstacle along the route.

“Seriously though, I had been told there is a large hill going into Brighton so that could be tough considering it is at the end of the ride so I’ll be tired at this stage.”

Despite the challenge, Dan completed the cycle in just over 4 hours and 15 minutes, an impressive achievement that demonstrated the hard work he had put into his training. Not only did he successfully cross the finish line, but he also raised £350 for the Electrical Industries Charity. Dan said he was happy with his efforts, and we are all incredibly proud of what he achieved.

While completing the challenge was an achievement in itself, Dan said his main goal was to raise awareness of the support available through the EIC.

“Being an advocate for mental health I have heard about a lot of the work the EIC do to support people within the industry and this is something I wanted to highlight by doing this ride.”

For anyone considering taking on a similar challenge, Dan had a simple message:

“Get out and do it, whatever it is.”

He said that having both a goal and a worthwhile cause to work towards had given him the motivation needed to see the challenge through.

Dan also thanked Richard, David and Phil, the Directors at PFS, for their support.

“The EIC is their chosen charity and they have also supported me in doing this ride which I am extremely grateful for.”

Looking back on the experience, Dan said he had enjoyed the challenge and was pleased to have completed it while raising money and awareness for a cause close to his heart.
