Take Action this Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental Health Awareness Month is not just about recognising the importance of mental health. It is about doing something with that awareness.
This month, focus on practical, realistic steps that you can take to support your own mental health and the wellbeing of those around you. Getting outside, taking a proper break, speaking to someone, or putting structure back into the day can all have a meaningful impact when done consistently.
We invite you to be a part of The EIC Big Walking Challenge, encouraging everyone across the industry to get moving, stay connected and build habits that last beyond a single month.
The EIC Big Walking Challenge
In May Team EIC are aiming to collectively walk 2 million steps, whether you walk for 10 minutes a day or 100, join us from wherever you are as we get moving and build habits that last. The Walking Challenge is designed to be simple, flexible and accessible, whether that is a short walk during the day, getting outside after work or walking with friends or colleagues.
Taking part offers a straightforward way to:
- Get moving!
- Build movement into your day-to-day life
- Create space to think and reset
- Encourage conversations that might not happen otherwise
- Stay connected
- Keep moving, keep it manageable, and keep it going!
A Month of Practical Action
Throughout May, we will be focusing on different ways to take action, building from getting started through to maintaining habits over time.
Start Moving
The first step is often the hardest. Join our Walking Challenge and take simple actions like stepping outside, going for a short walk or breaking up the working day with movement.
Take Action
Mental Health Awareness Week is all about action, but it doesn’t need to be big or overwhelming. Reaching out to someone, taking a proper break, checking in with yourself or having an honest conversation. These are small steps, but they make a difference when they are actually done.
Build Routine
Once those actions have started, the next step is consistency. Setting boundaries around the working day, building in regular breaks and making time for movement helps turn one-off actions into habits.
Stay Connected
Connection plays a critical role in mental health. It’s so important to make time for proper conversations and check-ins. Whether that is with colleagues, friends or peers across the industry, it is about listening as well as talking.
Keep It Going
Now we have built a solid foundation, let’s maintaining momentum. The aim is not for these actions to stop at the end of May, but to carry forward into everyday working life. Even keeping one positive habit in place can have a lasting impact.
Support and Resources
We are always here to provide support to anyone in our industry, if you or someone you work with needs support, it is important to act early. Reaching out, having a conversation or accessing help can make a significant difference.
Get Involved
Taking part does not require a major commitment or a complete overhaul of routine. It starts with one step. Join the EIC Big Walking Challenge, take action where you can, and encourage others to do the same.
