We are hiring for a Welfare & Mental Health Officer to join our welfare team. The successful applicant will under the supervision of the Welfare Team Manager, support industry members by establishing tailored support plans focused on treatment and problem solution and utilising the available charity resources and partnerships. We are seeking someone who is empathetic, works well under pressure and is effectively able to prioritise whilst providing support to individuals in need and maintaining administrative detail. The individual will also be required to facilitate regular trainings and engage with other role responsibilities; planning and organisation, building strategic partnerships and problem-solving.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Casework

  • To work with clients to tailor support plans to support their needs including but not limited to; mental health, financial, employment, family, housing and/or welfare benefits.
  • To adhere to the values and care objectives of the 4 charity support programmes.
  • Undertake any other tasks and duties that are within the scope of the post to provide the effective delivery and development of the charity’s support services.
  • Regularly review caseload and make recommendations concerning the support needs of the clients.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust support plans to meet changing needs.

Training

  • To facilitate trainings to industry organisations
  • To facilitate the MHFA training to industry organisations

Grants

  • Engage with service providers to ensure a long-term sustainable solution is provided to all grant recipients.
  • Follow assessment and administrative procedures with consideration to the most effective and productive solution to the client’s problems within the charity’s funding remit.
  • Assist clients with other issues or problems where these are integral to their case, and refer to other caseworkers, advisors, or specialist agencies as appropriate.

Administration

Maintain case records, on paper and on database securely adhering to GPDR policies and practice for the purpose of control and audit, continuity of case work, information retrieval, report preparation and statistical monitoring.

Development

  • Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedural changes relating to the provision of mental health services, state benefits, and other relevant services.
  • Maintain effective liaison with relevant external agencies and other charitable organisations.

General

  • Alternate 0800 helpline call coverage as required.
  • Attend Welfare Audit Group meetings as required.
  • Maintain up to date records and active reporting systems.
