We’re delighted to announce new appointments to our board and working groups, welcome to:
Danny Mouskovias – Certsure (board)
Richard Beighton – WAGO (board)
Sarah Macdonald – EDF (board)
Following their recent trustee appointments, we caught up with Richard, Danny, and Sarah for a Q&A!
Could you share a bit about your background and what led you to join the Electrical Industries Charity?
Richard shared that he has been involved with the industry for 30 years, starting out as an apprentice and wants to give back to the industry that has served him well.
What are you most looking forward to in your first year as a trustee?
Sarah is most looking forward to learning more about the EIC, learning how to be a good trustee and how to create a buzz around fundraising.
How do you hope to contribute to the charity’s mission and future direction?
As a trustee Danny hopes to support the EIC’s mission by bringing a people-first perspective rooted in both professional practice and personal lived experience. He aims to help the charity continue evolving its support services, particularly around wellbeing and leadership, while championing inclusion and breaking down stigma.
What part of the EIC’s work or services do you feel most passionate about?
Richard is passionate about “the whole lot” – from wellbeing programs to financial assistance to employer support scheme.
Danny is passionate about being involved in helping individuals and teams connect, grow and achieve their full potential.
How do you see your background and experience benefiting the EIC and its community?
Sarah shared that from working in the industry has given her direct insight into the pressures and challenges many in our sector face and this insight allows Sarah to connect authentically with the EIC community, contribute meaningfully to its evolving services, and help shape a future where support is accessible, relatable, and genuinely transformative.
Richard said “Having started my career as an apprentice, I understand first-hand the journey many in our industry take — from the ground up. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working across different countries and cultures, gaining a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities people face in various parts of the sector. This diverse experience allows me to relate to individuals at all levels — whether they’re just starting out or leading large teams — and brings a well-rounded view to supporting the EIC’s mission.”
What would you say to someone considering getting involved with the EIC, either as a supporter or volunteer?
Richard – “Stop Considering, just do it”
Sarah – “Do it!”
Danny – “Do it. Someone you know or know of might need support. You getting involved could be the answer to their answer to their challenge — sometimes, the smallest action can make the biggest difference.”
How are you marking our 120th anniversary?
Richard – “TBC, but I want to get involved in something great”
Sarah – “It’s on my list to get involved in a challenge, watch this space”
Danny – “I really want to educate myself on the past 120 years and continue the legacy”
