Secure Your Legacy: Free Wills Month with the Electrical Industries Charity

Have you ever wondered what would happen to your loved ones if something were to happen to you? It’s a tough question, but it’s one that everyone should consider. Making a will is the best way to make sure your wishes are carried out and your family is looked after when you’re no longer around. However, many people put off creating one, as it can feel overwhelming or uncomfortable.

This March, we’re bringing back Free Wills Month – a completely free basic will-writing service provided by the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).

Please note, our Free Will Service in March will be available for those 55 or under. If you are over 55, you will be able to get a free will from the EIC in October.

This service is a great opportunity to take control of your future and ensure that your family is protected and your wishes are clearly outlined. Plus, it saves you over £400!

Whether you’re writing your first will or updating an old one, this free service makes it easier to secure your legacy.

Why is it so important to have a will?

Recent studies show that many people in the UK don’t have a will. The National Wills Report 2025 found that only 37% of UK adults have made a will (Source: The National Will Register), which is a significant decrease from previous years.

The Citizens Advice Bureau has also found that inquiries about people passing away without a will have more than doubled in recent years.

In 2015, almost 3,750 queries were received about the complications that arise when someone passes away without leaving clear instructions.

These numbers highlight the need for everyone to make arrangements to avoid leaving their family in a difficult situation. We know there can be significant barriers that stop people from having a will made up. One in four Brits state that they don’t know how to make a will.

Creating a will this Free Wills Month is about more than just deciding who gets your belongings. It’s about making sure your loved ones are provided for. If you have children, a will lets you appoint guardians who will care for them and ensure they have financial support. A will also ensures that your money, property, and investments are passed on according to your wishes.

A will can also help ensure that your pets are cared for if you can no longer look after them. If you have a cause you care about, you can leave a gift to a charity in your will. Many charities, including EIC, rely on gifts in wills to fund their work. For many, these gifts make up a large part of their income. Without them, much of the support they provide would not be possible. By including EIC in your will, you can help make sure that future generations of people in need continue to receive the assistance they rely on.

    Secure your future this month

This Free Wills Month is a great time to create or update your will with the free service from EIC. It’s an easy way to make sure your family is taken care of and that your wishes are carried out. A will provides peace of mind, knowing that your estate will be handled as you wish and your loved ones won’t face unnecessary challenges.

Free Wills Month is the perfect time to take action. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Get your free basic will made today and you’ll be able to protect your family, and leave a lasting impact on the causes you care about.
