Did you know that you can help to change the lives of thousands of people in the electrical sector through the simple touch of a button? The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) supports people facing challenging periods in their lives in a variety of ways and one of the most fun and rewarding is by playing powerLottery.
As the Charity’s number one fundraising stream, powerLottery gives you the incredible opportunity to win one of 15 cash prizes from just £1 a month. The top prize is an impressive £1,000 so instead of buying a take away coffee, your money could go towards making a life changing difference.
By simply downloading and tapping the powerLottery app via your phone or tablet, your lottery ticket enables the Charity to offer financial assistance to those who need it most.
Liam Critchett is an excellent example of someone that the EIC has greatly helped. Liam’s life took an unexpected turn at the age of 11 as he was diagnosed with an extensive spinal cord tumour. As a result, he became a full-time wheelchair user and endured many lengthy and complicated operations over the years.
After suffering from an infection due to the spinal rods in his back, Liam had his spine fused. However, now aged 23, Liam is enjoying good health and works for Schneider Electric. His ultimate goal is to be walking again and to make this a reality, Liam requires an intensive physiotherapy regime which is not available on the NHS.
Currently, Liam has one to one physio and personal training sessions to help him progress with his walking. For one year’s worth of sessions, the cost is a hefty £13,500. His friends rallied around with some wonderful fundraising efforts but remained £5,000 short of his target.
Therefore, Liam’s manager contacted EIC over their financial concerns. The Charity were delighted to offer him a £5,000 grant to cover the outstanding fees. As a result, Liam has continued to make excellent progress and remains highly determined and enthusiastic in his aim to walk again.
